One year has passed and the Furin-ichi (wind bell market) at the Kawasaki Daishi has come round again. Since we liked it last year, and with the excuse to buy Japanese wind chimes for our families, we could not miss it this year, either. The heat was somewhat overwhelming. Luckily, chilled tea is given out for free, and with every purchase, you also receive a fan.

The choice of different bells, made from glass, ceramics or iron, is immense. Animal shapes, etched glass or sleek modern design in iron, everything is available. The range goes from kitsch to works of art. Unfortunately, some of the cutest bells had a rather poor sound. Personally, I like the sound of the iron chimes best, but also glass can produce good sounds. Needless to say that apart from the bells we bought as presents, we also carried two more home for ourselves!

This year’s furin ichi is held from July 17-21.

you take more beautiful pics than we japanese usually do.
diesen markt stelle ich mir besonders schön vor, angenommen, es ist wind da, hört man sicher unzählige Variationen von Klingeln und Glöckchen, wem würde da nicht das Lächeln kommen?
